Liverpool approach Brighton for winger Yankuba Minteh – with club still locked in talks with PSG in deal for Bradley Barcola

Liverpool have approached Brighton over signing winger Yankuba Minteh this summer.

Daily Mail Sport reported upon Mohamed Salah’s departure that the Gambia international would feature on a list to bolster the wide forward position this summer.

Liverpool remain in talks to sign Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola with the clubs in discussions over a fee.

But they would preferably like two forwards with Ibrahim Mbaye, also of PSG, one sounded out last week.

Minteh is currently on the sidelines after suffering an injury in Brighton’s pre-season win over Roma earlier this month.

The 22-year-old is expected to be out of action for between two to three months.

Minteh has made 73 appearances for Brighton to date since joining from Newcastle in a £30m move in the summer of 2024. He has scored 10 goals and provided nine assists for the Seagulls.

Minteh predominantly plays on the right wing, but has also been used on the left by Fabian Hurzeler.

Elsewhere, Inter Milan are on the verge of signing Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones after a summer-long back and forth.

The six-time England international, who joined Liverpool aged nine, has had his heart set on a move to Serie A for some time after failing to regularly establish himself as a starter at Anfield.

Liverpool are preparing for their first season under new manager Andoni Iraola, who replaced Arne Slot following the Dutchman’s dismissal at the end of last season.

After spending over £450million on new signings including Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike last summer, the 2024-25 Premier League champions struggled to reach the same heights again under the Dutchman and only narrowly managed to qualify for the Champions League with a fifth-place finish last term.

Liverpool, who waved farewell to Mohamed Salah, Andrew Robertson and Ibrahima Konate at the start of the summer, have so far recruited centre-half Jeremy Jacquet from Stade Rennais and left winger Victor Munoz from Osasuna ahead of the new campaign.
