President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received, today, a phone call from President Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic.
The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic stated that Mr. President expressed his deep appreciation for the qualitative development witnessed in bilateral relations between Egypt and France, especially after they were raised to the level of a strategic partnership during the visit of the French President to Cairo in April 2025, which reflected positively on the growing cooperation between the two countries in various fields. Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesman, explained that the two presidents discussed ways to continue advancing bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, by enhancing political, economic and investment cooperation, and increasing the volume of trade exchange, which has witnessed tangible progress over the past months, in addition to cooperation in the industrial, tourism and transportation sectors.
The call also dealt with the latest developments in the regional situation, especially the Gaza Strip, where the President expressed Egypt’s appreciation for French support for the Egyptian efforts that led to reaching an agreement. To the agreement to stop the war, stressing the necessity of consolidating the ceasefire and moving to the implementation of the second phase of US President Donald Trump’s peace plan.
The President stressed the importance of enhancing the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, and immediately starting the early recovery and reconstruction phase.
For his part, President Macron expressed his appreciation for the pivotal role played by Egypt in achieving regional stability, especially in consolidating the agreement to stop the war in Gaza. The call also touched on developments in the situation in the West Bank, where Mr. President affirmed Egypt’s categorical rejection of Israeli violations, stressing the need to support the Palestinian people and increase international pressure to stop these violations, and support the Palestinian Authority in fulfilling its obligations towards its people. The two presidents agreed that the current efforts must lead to the launch of a comprehensive political process that leads to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
With regard to the Sudanese issue, Mr. President affirmed Egypt’s full support for the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Sudan, and its rejection of any attempts that threaten its security, expressing Egypt’s support for efforts to end the war and restore peace and stability in brotherly Sudan.
