Married At First Sight (MAFS) Final Vows has kicked off, with one groom brutally walking away from his bride before she could read hers out, and fans are gagging at the move.
This article contains Married At First Sight 2026 spoilers. You’ve been warned.
It’s the time of the year when we get to see if folks can really get Married At First Sight. But unfortunately, for David Momoh and Alissa Fay, the experiment has ended BADLY.
To give you a quick recap, David and Alissa were arguably one of the strongest at the start of the experiment. When Alissa was dragged into a blitz of drama, David stayed by her side. But when Homestays Week rolled around, Alissa became uncertain of her future with her MAFS hunk of spunk, resulting in a small rift in their relationship.
Unfortunately, shit hit the fan at the Final Commitment Ceremony when David admitted that he felt like Alissa had shut him down when he tried to voice his opinions. The confession left Alissa feeling “blindsided” and bitter up until the Final Test.
After watching Alissa’s behaviour at the Final Test — where she admitted to her alternative match that she was only 70 per cent into her marriage — David took off his wedding ring, and Alissa threw hers at him.
Days later, David attempted to make amends and fight for his relationship with Alissa at the Final Dinner Party. Heck, he even got on his knee again to put on her ring. Despite his desperate pleas, Alissa shut him down and walked away from the table.
Reflecting on the last couple of days, David admitted that he felt uneasy about Alissa’s behaviour and that her behaviour at the Dinner Party was not her.
“Alissa, last night, was someone I don’t remember. Someone I don’t recognise. She was cold. it felt like the relationship meant nothing to her,” David shared.
“Right now, I’m questioning whether she wanted this to start with.”

Alissa, on the other end, in a separate room, admitted that her feelings “have changed” due to the last couple of days.
After spending time away, with David heading back to Brisbane and Alissa returning to Adelaide, the pair reunited for the Final Vows.
But before they could officially share their vows, David told producers in a confessional that he’s currently in “the most uncertain places in his life”. Whereas Alissa acknowledged David’s “fight” for the relationship.
“David being upset at that Final Test date was a big red flag for me,” Alissa stressed before describing his actions (David taking his ring off) as “toxic”.
“He is wanting this to work, but I am feeling the pressure of that.”
Finally arriving at a chapel-like venue, David was the first one to read out his vows. He began by reminiscing on all the positive moments of their relationship, citing their “spark”, “chemistry”, and great banter. Even the controversial moment she forced him to get down on his knee.

However, the song to David’s happy tune changed as soon as he hit *that* Final Commitment Ceremony, where the real demise of their relationship began.

“It was the Final Commitment Ceremony where everything changed. I finally spoke up. I told how, at times, I held back in this relationship, not because I didn’t care but because I was scared that being honest would push you further away,” David said.
“You accused me of blindsiding you, and in that moment, I realised something important. I wasn’t being heard. You couldn’t see I wasn’t attacking you. I was finally standing up for myself. It wasn’t about proving a point. It was about finding my voice. Despite your frustrations, I still wanted to fight for us.”
David went on to share how her behaviour at the Final Test hurt him, listing that she’d “flirted”, “made inappropriate jokes” and “spoke poorly about [him] behind his back”.
“I felt betrayed and disrespected about what I saw,” David continued.

“On our wedding day, you said you wanted to be challenged. So that is what I did. I challenged you, and you should be down. It felt as though you wouldn’t take any accountability for what I felt. We’ve had moments of laughter and deep affection, but we’ve also had moments where I’ve felt shut down, controlled and unheard.”
Ultimately, David said he felt “there was no version of him that could win” with Alissa and ended their relationship.
“I realise I can’t be the man who constantly fights to be heard or to constantly fight to prove his worth to someone who’s still deciding if I’ll be enough. Throughout all this, I’ve been patient, and I’ve done a lot of listening. But I’m done listening. So, today I’m not walking away because I’ve stopped loving you, Alissa. I’m walking away because loving you shouldn’t mean losing myself,” David shared.
David then stayed true to his words AND WALKED AWAY.

“You’re not gonna listen to my vows?” Alissa yelled as David continued to walk away.
“Wow, I just wasted three months of my life, and you won’t even listen to me.”
“The choice to walk away from final vows for me was about choosing myself and making my voice heard. So much of my relationship was putting Alissa first,” David shared in a confessional as Alissa’s vows played faintly in the background.
“There’s been so much pain I’ve experienced for the last two weeks. I feel tremendously heartbroken.”
Married At First Sight fans react to David Momoh leaving Final Vows before Alissa Fay could read hers
After the last couple of episodes, fans were unsurprisingly cheering for David. Especially since he did attempt to fight for their relationship at the Final Dinner Party.
And look, I feel terrible for Alissa. No one wants to be left at the altar, but David did warn you two times in the last sentence of his vows AND you did walk away from him at the Dinner Party.
I think he was just getting his (well-deserved) lick back…
