Man City complete first summer signing as Rayan Ait-Nouri joins from Wolves for £33.7m ahead of Club World Cup

Manchester City have confirmed their first summer arrival after completing the signing of Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolves.

The full back has penned a five-year deal and joins for an initial £31.7m, with add-ons taking the final fee to £33.7m.

He is due to join up with his new team-mates ahead of the Club World Cup, which gets underway later this week.

Ait-Nouri said: ‘I am incredibly happy and honoured to have joined Manchester City. City are one of the biggest clubs in the world and the chance to play for the club is a dream come true.

‘I am also so excited about working with and learning from Pep and his coaching team and getting to train and play alongside such a world class group of players. Joining City is also a very proud moment for my family too.

‘Now I can’t wait to get started and to play in front of our supporters.’

Ait-Nouri spent five years at Wolves after initially joining the club on loan from French side Angers in 2020.

The deal was made permanent the following year and he went on to play 157 matches for the Midlands club.

The Algerian international is unlikely to be the final City signing before the special transfer window closes on Tuesday.

City are expected to finalise a triple swoop that will see Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki join Ait-Nouri at the Etihad.

The triple swoop is expected to cost City £114m in total as the club splash the cash after a disappointing 2024-25 campaign.

Pep Guardiola’s men had a trophyless season for the first time since 2017, but have moved quickly to strengthen their squad this summer.

Guardiola has been backed in the opening days of the transfer window, and his attention will turn to the Club World Cup once Reijnders and Cherki complete their own moves.

City’s first match in the newly-expanded competition will be next Wednesday when they face Moroccan outfit Wydad AC.

They will then take on Al-Ain before a heavyweight clash with Juventus to finish off their group stage campaign.
