Man United-bound Matheus Cunha calls time on his Wolves career by gifting two of his team-mates Rolex watches as he prepares for medical

Matheus Cunha appears to have signalled the end of his Wolves career with gifts to two of his team-mates, with the Brazilian set to join Man United in a £62.5million move.

Cunha has agreed terms over a five-year contract with the option of an additional year, and could travel to Manchester for a medical this week once United make a formal approach to Wolves.

However, United have yet to activate the clause in Cunha’s contract which has to be paid in three instalments of £20.85m over two years.

Cunha’s fellow Brazilian team-mates Joao Gomes and Andre revealed on social media that they had been gifted Rolex watches by outgoing attacker, with an apparent departing message.

‘Thank you for all the moments, you will always be in my heart,’ Cunha wrote to Gomes.

‘I will always be in love with you and your family. I love you.’

Gomes shared the image of the Rolex box and message from Cunha on social media.

‘I promised we wouldn’t be relegated and he promised a Rolex!! A man of his word,’ Gomes wrote.

‘This is worth a lot!! It is more valuable than any trophy or title, a sincere friendship. I love you my big friend, straight talk. Thanks for everything my bro.’

Gomes also shared footage of Andre discovering his Rolex in the Wolves changing room before embracing Cunha.

‘He got involved in our agreement and nothing fairer than receiving one too @andre I love you brother,’ Gomes added.

Andre also shared a photo of him warming up with Cunha during the season.

‘I’m sure you will shine wherever you go, my friend,’ Andre wrote. ‘May God bless you and your family wherever you go.’

Following the end of the season, Cunha had also written a message to Wolves fans thanking them for their support.

‘Wolves, what can I say to you? What an incredible season,’ Cunha wrote.

‘We didn’t get to where you deserve to be, but we did everything we could to make you proud. I love these guys.

‘Individually, it was the best season of my life. All of this was only possible because of all the dedication and love I have for this club.

‘I became the Brazilian with the most goals in a Premier League season, along with Roberto Firmino and Gabriel Martinelli.

‘I made mistakes and got things right, but always because I lived this club so much.

‘All I ever wanted was to do the impossible for Wolves. Another one is over. And thank you all for all the affection.’

Man United would like to complete a deal for the 25-year-old Brazilian by the end of May, kicking off what is expected to be a busy summer of ins and outs at Old Trafford.

Cunha is likely to be given the No.10 shirt which currently belongs to Marcus Rashford who is set to leave Old Trafford after a loan spell at Aston Villa.

Man United are also pursuing an interest in Brentford’s Bryan Mbuemo, as well as signing Cunha.

Manager Thomas Frank admitted at the weekend that Brentford will listen to offers for Mbuemo, 25, who would cost around £50m plus add-ons.

United are also in the market for a centre-forward, but it’s understood that Chelsea have edged ahead of them in the race for their No.1 target Liam Delap who can leave Ipswich for £30m.

United must sell to buy this summer after missing out on a £100m Champions League windfall.

They landed in Kuala Lumpur on Monday on a post-season tour that will earn the club £8m.
