Manal Awad: A start for environmental work in the Mediterranean, and the Cairo Declaration sets priorities for the future

Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development and Acting Minister of the Environment, confirmed that the coming period will witness a new launch in regional environmental work, especially in light of Egypt’s presidency of the Barcelona Convention for two years, noting that the next phase will focus on adopting the action plan for the agreement in terms of budget and executive activities, ensuring unified efforts of the Mediterranean countries in confronting the escalating challenges that threaten the marine environment.

 

 The Minister said, in a special statement to the agency. Middle East News Today, The “Cairo Declaration”, which will be issued later today at the conclusion of the twenty-fourth Conference of the Parties to the Barcelona Convention for the Protection of the Mediterranean “COP24”, held in Cairo under the slogan “The Sustainable Blue Economy for a Resilient and Healthy Mediterranean”.
