Margot Robbie says Wuthering Heights adaptation is a lot raunchier than the book – revealing she and co-star Jacob Elordi ‘kiss everywhere’ in steamy movie

Margot Robbie has revealed her upcoming movie Wuthering Heights is far more raunchier than the book it’s based off as she stares alongside Jacob Elordi.

Australian actor Margot, 35, shares the screen alongside fellow Aussie Jacob, 28, in the highly anticipated romantic film.

Its director Emerald Fennell has taken the helm of a steamy adaptation of Emily Bronte’s iconic novel, which is set for release on February 13.

Jacob stars as Heathcliff while Margot portrays Cathy in the flick, which is set on the Yorkshire moors.

Margot has now revealed how she and her hunky co-star ‘kiss a lot’ on-screen in the adaption compared to the 1847 novel.

Speaking to The Sun, the Barbie actress admitted: ‘They never really kissed in the book, but we kiss a lot. We kiss everywhere.

‘And there’s so many times where he just picks me up and puts me in a tree, or picks me up with one hand.

‘And I have to say, it is really nice, it makes you feel, ‘Oh I’m light as a feather, I’m a tiny little thing’.’

Prior to its release, Wuthering Heights has courted controversy due to the appearance of Cathy – who is a teenager in the book – and the fact that Heathcliff should be ‘dark-skinned’.

Meanwhile, asked if she prepares differently for romantic scenes, Margot told PEOPLE: ‘No different to all the other scenes that we do. The movie kind of demands a lot of all of us.

‘My character essentially cries in every single scene, but no, it was a joy. I loved playing a character who kind of swings from one wild emotion to the other in an instant.’

Earlier this week, Margot braved the black carpet for the film’s premiere in a daring sheer Dilara Findikoglu gown with a Victorian-esque corset and green detailing made out of plaited hair and Archival Boucheron Brooches.

The actress shared that she was also wearing a replica of one of Charlotte Bronte’s bracelets, which was thought to be made out of her sisters Emily and Anne’s hair, and acted as the inspiration for the gown.

Ahead of its release, Margot and Jacob have displayed their sizzling chemistry in a string of red carpet appearances.

In fact, it has led to some complaints from fans that the duo have taken inspiration from Sydney Sweeney’s ‘PR playbook,’ after she put on a similarly cosy display with co-star Glen Powell in 2023 to promote their film Anyone But You.

Jacob himself recently raised eyebrows during a press interview when he declared the pair had a ‘mutual obsession’ while filming.

Speaking to Fandango, with Margot sitting nearby, he said he made sure he was never more than 10 metres away from the Barbie actress on set.

‘If you have the opportunity to share a film set with Margot Robbie, you’re going to make sure you’re within five to ten metres at all times,’ he said.

‘Watching how she drinks tea, how she eats her food. When is it going to slip? And it never comes undone.’
