Morrisons has issued an urgent recall notice for a popular range of cashew nuts over fears the packs could contain pieces of glass.
Several batches of Morrisons Savers Cashews have been recalled by the Food Standards Agency (FSA), which said the product may be “unsafe to eat”.
The affected batches are the 125g packages, which have best by dates of 9 August 2026, 6 September 2026, 26 September 2026, 28 September 2026, and 9 October 2026.
Customers who have bought the cashew nuts have been told not to eat them and instead return the packs to the nearest Morrisons store for a full refund.
A Morrisons spokesperson said: “No other products are affected by this issue.
“We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and assure customers of our continuing commitment to the highest standard of product quality and safety.”
Pieces of glass could cause damage to the oesophagus, irritation and bleeding if swallowed.
The FSA which issued the recall said point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling the nuts. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought it.
If there is a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold, FSA may issue a recall to let consumers and local authorities know about problems associated with food.
In November 2025, a similar case saw batches of Poundland nuts pulled from its shelves over fears the product possibly contained glass.
The budget shop issued a “do not eat” warning for bags of The Tasty Snack Co. Roasted and Salted Cashews and said the product could be unsafe to eat.
