Given loads of us all over the world are struggling to keep our heads above water when it comes to things like rising rent, stratospheric utility bills, and, oh I don’t know, making sure we have enough groceries to allow us to continue living, it perhaps seems like a weird time to launch a new shopping feature on Dazed. Spending on luxury fashion is sinking among young people, as we turn our attention instead to experiences – because what’s the point in having a mega wardrobe if you can’t even afford to go out and show it off?
That said, and while there is no ethical consumption under capitalism, the urge to splash the cash on cute bits and pieces now and then still runs deeper than we’d probably like to admit – after all, we need something to distract us from the fact we’ll never own houses, the impending apocalypse, and suchlike. With that in mind, this week we drop a new ‘shopping list’, highlighting pieces from rising designers, big brands, worthwhile causes and more, with stuff for every budget.
Every week, we’ll be publishing the items we’re actually buying – or at least have languishing in our online baskets until we’ve saved enough to splurge – with a bunch of special guest tastemakers taking over the reins throughout the year. For this first one, there’s no real rhyme or reason beyond everything being very cute and highly covetable, although there are quite a few in there benefitting the global trans community, given they’re really up against it right now.
From t-shirts by Conner Ives to ridiculous fluffy mules from the future, to Willy Chavarria’s mega-hyped and long-awaited adidas collab, get your card details primed and ready.
SPACEBRAT TRUCKER CAP
£140.00
Charli xcx is having a hard time letting go of Brat, taking to Instagram to reveal she wants the moment to last forever and wondering where it could go next. Suggestion: Brats In Space? Pick up this trashy trucker to eke it out just a little bit longer.

FUR KITTEN HEELS FROM THE FUTURE
£375.00
The curation at APOC is second to none, with the store bringing together the best designers you’ve never heard of from across the globe. Among them, Invasive Modification, a footwear brand that time travels between ye olde medieval era and the far-flung future to craft cunty boots and silly little kitten heels like these ones.

PROTECT THE DOLLS TEE
£75.00
You’ve seen it all over Instagram and you’ve still got time to get your hands on one as London-based designer keeps pre-orders open. Yes, protecting the dolls should extend past plastering it across your chest, but with all proceeds going to support trans people across the globe, making a little purchase is a good place to start. ASHLEY WILLIAMS IS TRASH!!!
£490.00
Ashley Williams seemingly rummaged through her bins to bring her latest collection to life, pulling out all manner of candy coloured bits and pieces and wrapping them all up to create one-of-a-kind bags and patched-together dresses.

RETIRED PARTY GIRL TEE
£30.00
Another brand working to support trans causes – this time Safe Only’s THNX program – is Scarrie, which just rereleased a past fave in the form of its ‘Retired Party Girl’ tee. Last summer was hardcore. Maybe it’s time we all put our feet up?

LEO COSTELLO’S DOLLS
Conner Ives wants you to protect the dolls while Leo Costello wants you to wear them. The London silversmith who’s best known for his delicate and lightly haunted bows turned his tools to creating a series of cute articulated dolly necklaces, available in super limited numbers and with all money sprint on them going to trans charities.

TORISHÉJU BIG PLAID BLOOMERS
£330.00
Bloomers are everywhere right now – at Coachella, for two years running, you couldn’t move for butt-skimming, blousy shorts – and London label Torishéju’s are probably among the best, given they punk up the cutesy style in punky red tartan.

ALAÏA MASK GLASSES
£365.00
After a few years sucked in by the small sunglasses trend, I’ve realised the error of my ways and accepted that for me, bigger is better, baby. These ones cover half your face and come with a mega silver mirror finish to make you look like a bad bitch from the future.

VAQUERA TRACK JACKET
£305.00
Ahead of the release of new film Magic Farm, Chloë Sevigny stepped out in a full Vaquera look taken from the offbeat brand’s SS25 collection. As per usual, a cropped track jacket and scarf skirt shouldn’t really work, but if anyone can, it’s Sevigny.

A PERFECT CHA-CHA HEEL
£400.00
Speaking of Sevigny, she also repped rising footwear label Jude, finishing her aforementioned Vaquera look with a pair of its towering lipstick red ‘Date’ heels. Despite being super spindly, I can also confirm they’re also super comfortable.

WILLY CHAVARRIA X ADIDAS
£80.00
Half of it has sold out… What are you waiting for? Stop reading this!!!
