Motorbike rider is killed and another critical in hospital after ute towing a horse float rolled on country road
A motorcycle rider has been killed and another seriously injured after a crash involving a ute towing a horse float in rural NSW.
Emergency crews were called to The Bucketts Way in Booral, an hour north of Newcastle, about 10.20am on Sunday.
Upon arrival, officers from Port Stephens-Hunter police district found the ute had rolled and collided with two motorcycles.
One of the motorbike riders, a man in his 30s, was treated by paramedics at the scene but he died.
A second rider, a man aged in his 70s, was treated for serious leg injuries before he was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition.
Paramedics also treated the driver of the ute, an 18-year-old woman, but she did not require hospitalisation.
Police alleged officers carried out a mandatory roadside breath test on the woman and she returned a positive result.
She was taken to Stroud Police Station for further testing.

The horse being transported in the float was uninjured.
Police have established a crime scene and are investigating the crash.
