Nick Kyrgios’ brother Christos joins forces with a ‘bio-hacking banker’ for epic weight loss transformation: ’18kg in eight weeks’

Christos Kyrgios, the older brother of Aussie tennis superstar Nick Kyrgios, has shed an impressive 10 kilograms as part of a high-protein, eight-week fitness challenge.

Joined by his long-time friend and business partner Alex Euripidou, an ex-investment banker turned biohacking health guru, they lost a combined 18kg.

For Christos, 37, a health executive and international coach, the motivation was personal.

‘I found that when kids came along, I was struggling as a new parent and no longer able to prioritise things I usually did, including working out,’ he told FEMAIL.

‘I was just not feeling confident or comfortable in my body, and I wanted to be a better dad to run around with my kids.’

Christos and Alex took on a strict high-protein nutrition plan, tailored to their unique metabolic needs, training regimens and recovery requirements.

The goal was simple – fat loss, muscle preservation, and metabolic balance.

‘As you’re losing weight, it’s also important to keep your lean muscle mass and also ensure other systems, like your skeletal systems, in place as well,’ Alex said.

What was Christos’ day on a plate to lose 10kg?

4x poached eggs

2x sourdough toast

2x grilled tomatoes

+ mushrooms or asparagus

LUNCH:

1x cup of rice

200grams of any lean protein – chicken or beef

1x mixed salad bag

DINNER:

300-400gram steak

Roast vegetables

Pasta / or rice

SNACK – Homemade protein ice cream

300ml lactose free milk

2tbsp high protein vanilla yoghurt

1x ADE Protein Recovery Gel – Honey

 1x handful frozen berries

‘One thing that I did was take a DEXA (dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry) scan, because you don’t want to lose muscle as you’re losing fat as well.’

A DEXA scan is a quick and painless, low-dose X-ray used to measure bone density and assess bone strength which can be done at a designated medical facility.

‘You want to be overall healthy, not just in one dimension, because losing weight quickly is not preferred,’ he said.

While protein is often hailed as a health essential when it comes to our diets, the duo quickly realised how confusing and inconvenient it can be to get it right.

‘People don’t realise that getting enough quality protein, consistently, is not easy,’ Alex said.

With a career in high finance, Alex started ‘bio-hacking’ years ago – testing diets, supplements and recovery tools on himself – so blending the intersection of science and wellbeing wasn’t knew to him.

As for an exercise routine, Alex shed the kilos quickly by heading out on long runs training for a marathon, directly after his weights sessions at the gym.

However Christos, who had more weight to lose, didn’t find switching his diet and exercise as easy because of bad habits he’d formed from his childhood.

‘We did it tough when we were younger, and we didn’t have the privilege of throwing things [food] away,’ he said.

‘I was always brought up in a family where we don’t like to waste.

‘So, I was eating everything the kids didn’t need, and then I would eat my own food.’

For exercise, Christos credited resistance and weight training at the gym during the challenge, as well as incidental daily cardio walking his energetic dogs.

Both big fans of snacking (especially on sweet things), Christos and Alex name their homemade ice cream as their ‘cheat meal’ with lots of frozen berries – eating it any time they felt like it.

‘l’ll have ice cream pretty much every day,’ says Kyrgios.

‘This is not a plug for Ninja Creami, but I mix low fat milk, a sachet of protein and then some low fat protein yoghurt, blend it up, and it tastes literally like gelato.’

The two men founded ADE Health and Nutrition together, a liquid protein supplement brand with an easy-to-follow protein requirement calculator for their customers.
