Olyslagers and Patterson in high jump finals; Diamonds in netball action vs; Chalmers and Pallister headline swimming with O’Callaghan and Stubblety-Cook also in action.
The penultimate day of swimming here in Glasgow. Nowhere near as many fans as the weekend action, but we crack on with some racing. Ten different events this morning for heat session.
Will Petric is a big medal chance in the men’s 400m individual medley and will be aiming to qualify in a good lane for tonight’s final. Same goes for Jenna Forrester in the 200m individual medley after her win yesterday in the 400m IM.
Interesting that Cam McEvoy (50m freestyle champion) and Kyle Chalmers are still down to the 50m butterfly heats. Free spin time for McEvoy, but Chalmers has a 100m freestyle final tonight. With Flynn Southam nipping at his heels, you wouldn’t have begrudged Chalmers to trying to conserve all his energy.
However, Chalmers is a gold medal chance in the butterfly. Women’s 50m freestyle heats should be a walk in the park for Australia’s world champion Meg Harris, while Olympic gold and silver medallist Zac Stubblety-Cook is in action in his favoured 200m breaststroke event.
Giddy up.
