Patrick Clancy’s mother reacts with disgust as prosecutor suggests Lindsay ‘didn’t like’ son Dawson: Live updates

Lindsay Clancy’s ex-mother-in-law rejected the prosecution’s suggestion that she disliked Dawson.

Patrick Clancy’s mother, Sue Clancy, told the jury that Clancy was ‘very nurturing’ and a ‘wonderful mother.’

Defense attorney Kevin Reddington asked: ‘Did she love Dawson in your opinion?’

‘She loved her children, all of them, very, very much,’ Sue said.

Clancy, 36, is on trial for the murders of her three children, Cora, five, Dawson, three, and eight-month-old Callan, at her home in Duxbury, Massachusetts, in 2023.

She strangled her children with exercise bands and then allegedly attempted to kill herself, but her efforts failed and left her paralyzed and in a wheelchair for life.

The prosecution rested its case against Clancy on Monday after using the first three weeks of the trial to argue the killings were intentional and well planned, not the work of someone who had lost control.

Clancy has admitted to killing her children but pleaded not guilty to murder by reason of insanity, citing postpartum psychosis, and is seeking to be committed to a state mental health facility rather than a prison sentence.

Dr Laposata testifies that Clancy dove head first out of the window

Jurors where shown diagrams that depict how Clancy jumped out of the window head first, causing blood to go on the shingles on the exterior of the home, the doctor testified.

‘It was a free fall dive, head first,’ she said.

She likened Clancy’s injuries – a Jefferson fracture – to like a person diving into a swimming pool and hitting their head on the bottom of the pool.

Prosecutors have previously raised doubts about Clancy’s suicide attempt, suggesting that bloodstains on the shingles of the home suggest she clung to the window ledge and dropped rather than jumping out of the window.

Jurors are taking lots of notes and looking at the diagrams closely.

One juror appears to be taking so many notes she had to start a new page in her notebook.

In a fiery cross-examination, ADA Jennifer Sprague showed photos of the top of Clancy’s head after her suicide attempt and questioned how she could have no visible head injuries if she landed head-first on the frozen ground.

Dr Laposata stood firmly by her insights.

‘So she fell headfirst onto hard, cold ground and has no visible injuries to the exterior of her head?’

‘Correct,’ she responded.

When the doctor repeatedly tried to provide context or an explanation, Sprague fired back ‘it’s yes or no.’

Clancy has her head in her hands and is sniffing.

Patrick Clancy’s mother says ex-daughter-in-law loved all her children

Patrick Clancy’s mother, Sue Clancy, testified that Lindsay loved all her children, rejecting the prosecution’s suggestion that she disliked Dawson.

‘Did you see her treat her middle son, Dawson, bad because she didn’t like him?’ defense attorney Kevin Reddington asked her.

‘No,’ Sue said.

Reddington asked, ‘Did she love Dawson in your opinion?’

‘She loved her children, all of them, very, very much,’ Sue said.

The grieving grandmother added, ‘She was very nurturing, very loving; she was a wonderful mother.’

Earlier in the trial, the prosecution entered several pieces of evidence where Clancy expressed frustrations with Dawson.

In one post from 2021, Clancy wrote: ‘I’m truly finding my 19-month-old to be the most difficult human I’ve ever encountered. I mean that with all love in my heart, but I honestly cannot make it through a day without getting so frustrated with him.’

Forensic pathologist testifies about Clancy’s injuries

Dr Laposata reviewed Clancy’s injuries, saying that she saw sharp force injuries to Clancy’s wrists and neck.

She has reviewed many injuries from suicide attempts. Reddington asked if Clancy’s injuries are consistent with a suicide attempt.

Sprague shot up in her chair. Reddington told her ‘wait a minute.’ She objected and the judge sustained the objection.

The doctor went on to say that there were incisions that were consistent with a suicide attempt.

Court resumes

Dr Elizabeth Laposata, former chief medical examiner of Rhode Island, is testifying virtually.

She created diagrams to depict the events of January 24, 2023.

The members of the jury have each been handed paper printouts of the diagrams.

As the children’s autopsies were mentioned, Clancy grew emotional.

She began pursing her lips and breathing heavily. She then grabbed a tissue and bowed her head.

Lindsay Clancy begs for trial to stop as she hears most graphic evidence yet

Lindsay Clancy pleaded for her trial to stop as a medical examiner shared the horrific details of her slain children’s injuries.

The jury and courtroom had to be cleared twice on Wednesday as Clancy grew so overcome with emotion hearing the injuries she had inflicted on her own children.

‘I can’t do this,’ Clancy cried out as she sat through the graphic testimony inside Plymouth County Superior Court.

Lindsay Clancy’s final texts to husband on day she killed her kids emerge

Mundane text messages Lindsay Clancy sent her husband, as he was out running errands on the day she killed her children, were read at trial Thursday.

They also saw a video of the family enjoying a day out at the Museum of Science in Boston, which made Clancy visibly emotional as it played.

Baby-faced Ivy League psychiatrist who’d never met Lindsay Clancy but prescribed her barrage of drugs takes center stage in children’s horror murder trial

The baby-faced psychiatrist who prescribed a boatload of drugs to Lindsay Clancy without ever meeting her in person has become a key figure in ‘America’s saddest murder trial.’

Dr Jennifer Tufts’s frustrated, impolite demeanor towards Clancy’s lawyer, her bumbling answers and her apparent unpreparedness for her time on the stand have made her a key talking point during the court proceedings into the triple filicide.

The Cornell University graduate confessed to treating Clancy and prescribing the 35-year-old mother multiple different medications in the four months leading up to the deaths of her children.

She also openly admitted that she only met Clancy on telehealth medicine, or video chat calls, and that she increased her medication just one day before Cora, five, Dawson, three, and eight-month-old Callan were strangled to death with exercise bands in January 2023.

Clancy murder trial discusses suicide

Lindsay Clancy is accused of murdering her three children – Cora, five, Dawson, three, and eight-month-old Callan – in January 2023.

Although the 36-year-old does not deny killing her children, she has pleaded not guilty and claimed she is not responsible for her actions because she was suffering from postpartum psychosis.

On the day of the killings, Clancy asked her husband, Patrick Clancy, to leave their home to get takeout food and to pick up something at a pharmacy.

The former nurse strangled the children with exercise bands, then used multiple methods to try to end her own life.

She was paralyzed after falling from the home’s second-story window and is being held at a state hospital.

Lindsay Clancy courtroom stunned after cop shares rumor that psychologist COACHED Massachusetts mom

The stunning moment came during day 12 of Lindsay Clancy’s trial when a police officer admitted the state’s apparent theory that a doctor had coached the mom-of-three to claim that she killed her children because she was hearing voices.

She claims that she was in the throes of severe postpartum depression and psychosis and heard a voice commanding her to kill the children and herself, telling her it was her ‘last chance.’

Inside Plymouth County Superior Court on Wednesday morning, Massachusetts State Police Sgt Dan Lawlor was forced to admit that investigators discussed a ‘theory’ that a psychologist hired by the defense had planted the seed of that story in Clancy’s mind.
