Population Conference: Economic and Medical Results of the Presidential Initiative for Women’s Health

 

The Ministry of Health and Population organized a dialogue session “On the Economic and Medical Results of the Presidential Initiative for Women’s Health,” within the activities of the second edition of the World Conference on Population, Health and Human Development (PHDC24), which is held under the patronage of the President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, under the slogan “Human Development: for a Sustainable Future,” in the New Administrative Capital.

The session addressed the importance of strong political will to implement presidential initiatives at the national level and how to benefit from them, and position Egypt as a pioneering country in the field of health. Women, and the approach taken as a reference for Africa and low- and middle-income countries, as well as highlighting the importance of a shift in mindset to invest more in person-centred approaches, early health detection policies and leveraging public-private partnerships and other available tools.

Dr. Mohamed Hassani, Assistant Minister of Health for Public Health Initiatives, revealed the high rates of detecting cases in the early stages, which was reflected in a reduction in the prevalence of breast cancer, and a positive impact on the results of treatment for women with breast cancer.

p>"Hasani" confirmed The strong will and interest of the political leadership in public health projects and placing the health of the Egyptian citizen as a priority were among the most important factors for the success of the initiatives, as well as good preparation and availability of primary care facilities spread throughout all governorates of the Republic and the presence of qualified centers and hospitals designated to receive cases, as well as cooperation and partnership with the private sector each. This was one of the reasons for the success of the initiative.

Dr. Islam Anan, Professor of Pharmacoeconomics and Epidemiology, gave a detailed presentation on the economic impact of the President of the Republic’s initiative to support women’s health, comparing the situation if the initiative was not implemented, and how the initiative was beneficial. It is economical by saving the cost of treating cases that are detected early.

For his part, Fernando Arnaiz, who leads efforts to improve access to health care in developing markets for the pharmaceutical company, said, “We are committed to building a sustainable health care system in the long term.”

 This vision is in line with the President’s Women’s Health Initiative, which seeks to provide the best service to women with breast cancer, and our partnership enhances the improvement of the breast cancer patient’s journey in a sustainable way, and this can only be achieved through effective cooperation between the public and private sectors, and we are proud. To be a key partner in this initiative, and we look forward to continuing our contribution to developing this partnership.”
