Shohei Ohtani’s selfless act caught on camera as MLB fans are left in awe: ‘He was raised right’

MLB superstar Shohei Ohtani went viral earlier this week after cameras spotted him carrying out a ‘selfless’ act mid-game.

Ohtani, who helped the Los Angeles Dodgers win the World Series in 2024, is one of the highest-paid baseball players on the planet after signing a record 10-year, $700m deal with the team last year.

Yet despite putting pen to paper on the second most expensive sports contract of all time, which was only surpassed by New York Mets outfielder Juan Soto this year, the 30-year-old Japanese sensation remains as humble as they come behind the scenes.

In a clip shared by MLB reporter Dan Clark on X, Ohtani can be seen heading to a water cooler to make eight drinks during the Dodgers’ game against the Colorado Rockies in LA.

Remarkably, though, Clark claimed that none of the drinks in question were for himself – with all eight of them for his teammates.

MLB fans were left in awe at Ohtani’s kind gesture mid-game, taking to social media to heap praise on the two-way sensation. 

‘He was raised right. Thank you to the Japan culture,’ one user wrote on X.

‘What a guy! The nicest guy in the world, man. That’s why I have so much respect for Ohtani,’ said another.

A third posted: ‘what a selfless act we need more people like Shohei Ohtani in this world’.

A fourth commented: ‘Servant leadership right here. That’s how it’s done.’

While one simply concluded: ‘That’s a leader.’

Ohtani, a three-time MVP winner, is enjoying another impressive season so far for the Dodgers after hitting .288 with six homers and eight RBIs. 

He’s also stolen five bases in the 2025 season, having produced a 59-steal year in 2024.
