Sport’s hottest couples: Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa steal the show as Olympian Armand Duplantis and his fiancee Desire Inglander stun on red carpet at the Laureus Awards

Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa lit up the Laureus Awards in Madrid as sport’s flashiest couples came together for a glitzy gala.
The tennis duo – dubbed ‘Tsitsidosa’ – held hands as they waltzed onto the red carpet in pearly white outfits at the Cibeles Palace.
The Laureus Awards, which hand out honours to the world’s top athletes, also welcomed the likes of Lamine Yamal, Simone Biles, and Armand Duplantis.
Two-time Olympic pole vault champion Duplantis wore a black suit with a blue bow tie and was joined by his fiancee Desire Inglander, a model and content creator.
Inglander grinned as she stood beside him in a light blue dress and a transparent shawl, with Duplantis winning the Sportsman of the Year prize.
Simone Biles, who won the Sportswoman of the Year gong, posed for the cameras in a black corseted balloon mini dress with her prize.

However, husband and NFL star Jonathan Owens was not by her side after she recently hinted on Instagram that they do not get many precious moments together.
Biles has now drawn level with fellow American Serena Williams’ haul of four wins in the women’s category at the sporting Oscars, having also claimed the Comeback of the Year award last year.
‘I’m so happy to be here in Madrid and to receive my fourth Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year award,’ said the 28-year-old, who was also at the Bernabeu for Real Madrid’s 1-0 win over Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.
‘I won this award for the first time in 2017 and Laureus has been a part of my story since then. I am proud to have added to my collection.’
Conor Gallagher caught attention in a navy suit and bow tie as he waved to the crowd alongside his girlfriend Aine May Kennedy, a social media influencer.
They even took time to stand in front of the Nelson Mandela wall, beaming in front of an image of the former politician and a quote which read: ‘Sport has the power to change the world’.
Meanwhile, former Spanish tennis star Feliciano Lopez, 43, clung tight to his girlfriend Sandra Gago, 29, as they checked in for the high-profile bash.
While not a couple, there was no stopping Luka Modric and Dani Carvajal from rubbing shoulders as they held aloft Real Madrid’s World Team of the Year Award.

Roma striker Paulo Dybala also strolled in alongside his wife Oriana Sabatini, who studied embalming and used to work in a funeral home before becoming a model and singer.
Award winners are decided by the 69 members of the Laureus World Sports Academy, a rollcall of sporting icons including Boris Becker, Cafu, Michael Johnson, Sachin Tendulkar and Jack Nicklaus.
Rafael Nadal claimed the Sport Icon Award and jokingly bit into his trophy while looking the part in a smooth black suit and bow tie combo, with a watch to boot.
‘A sporting icon? I think that is for other people to decide,’ said the 22-time Grand Slam champion. ‘But I hope that my career has inspired sports fans beyond tennis.
‘I gave it everything I had. My drive has always been to compete and try my best every time I stepped on court.’
Spain and Barcelona teen sensation Lamine Yamal received the gong for Breakthrough of the Year, which was won last year by England and Real star Jude Bellingham.
There was a British winner in the Action Sportsperson of the Year category as Tom Pidcock picked up the prize following his incredible comeback victory in the Olympic mountain bike race last summer.
However, neither Yamal nor Pidcock could be there in person.

Comeback of the Year went to Brazilian gymnast Rebeca Andrade, who won Olympic floor gold having almost quit the sport following three ACL injuries.
Female Chinese swimmer Jiang Yuyan, who won seven gold medals at the Paris Paralympics, was named Sportsperson of the Year with a Disability, while Kelly Slater, an 11-time world surfing champion, won the Lifetime Achievement award.
