Supermodel Anok Yai Slams Report Claiming She Peed Herself At The 2024 Met Gala: ‘How Dare You’

Supermodel Anok Yai has slammed a recent report which claimed she peed herself at the 2024 Met Gala, saying the bizarre rumour has “misalign[ed] my character”.
Yai, who is a regular Met Gala attendee, was mentioned in a recent report by The Washington Post which investigated how guests use the bathroom at the fashion event.
The report heard from stylist Mickey Freeman, who claimed an unnamed model at the 2024 Met Gala wore an “elaborate couture sheer mesh jumpsuit” that had a pesky zipper.
“[The guest] was swept up in the grandeur and excitement and completely forgot about the zipper situation,” Freeman said, adding that the model’s “bladder decided to remind her”.
While Freeman stopped short of naming the guest, The Washington Post said in its report that “model Anok Yai wore an outfit that matches this description” to the 2024 Met Gala.
Yai took to her Instagram Stories to deny the report, writing that she “usually stay[s] quiet and keep[s] to myself but felt compelled to address the situation.
“How dare you misalign my character and imply that I ripped my outfit and peed on myself during the Met Gala of 2024! Fact check next time! Are you crazy?!” Yai said.

The model went on to implore The Washington Post to share receipts, saying if it “finds any photos of my outfit ripped or urine dripping down my leg, send it to me”.

Also denying the story was Freeman, who said on Instagram that “it was not queen Anok” he was referencing in the anecdote and that he has “never worked with [her] in any capacity”.
“This is like a hilarious non-story,” Freeman added. “I absolutely adore Anok, so let’s not play these games on the internet. She was never a part of the story, which is why I found it so absurd when I saw her name.”

While Yai and Freeman put the kibbosh on the pee rumours, the original Washington Post report did reveal the struggle that comes with using the bathroom at the Met Gala, with fellow stylist Miranda Almond saying “it is extremely difficult” for stars to get to the loo.
“It normally means no drinking anything like water, and needing assistance to disrobe and then re-robe afterwards,” Almond told the publication.
The 2026 edition of the Met Gala took place last week, with Yai wearing a custom Balenciaga gown under the theme of “Fashion is Art”.

Elsewhere, fellow attendees Rhianna and A$AP Rocky were at the centre of (non-pee-related) rumours after fans noticed some chilly interactions on the red carpet, before multiple after parties kicked off with their own servings of BTS tea.
Not too much tea, I hope, since drinking fluids at the Met is evidently a big no-no!
