Taylor Swift Sparks Theories She Is Headlining Super Bowl 2026

In proof that no one works harder than the Swifties, stans of Taylor Swift have been busy theorising that she will perform at next year’s Super Bowl, thanks to a trail of clues she supposedly left in the announcement of her album earlier this week.

ICYMI, Swift revealed that her next body of work, The Life of a Showgirl, will arrive later this year, making the announcement during a two-hour long podcast appearance alongside her boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother, Jason Kelce

The sleuths they are, Swifties promptly uncovered two details within the podcast that they believe are references to the biggest day in the US sporting calendar, when Super Bowl LX kicks off at San Francisco’s Levi’s Stadium next February.

The first piece of evidence was Swift’s mention of her love of sourdough (she’s just like us!), when she joked that she is “thinking of sourdough 60 per cent of the time”.

While it might sound like an innocuous comment, fans were quick to point out that the home team of San Francisco, where the Super Bowl will be held, is the 49ers, and they are represented by a mascot known as… Sourdough Sam!

If that supposed reference isn’t convincing enough, a bunch of Swifties also resorted to numerology as yet more evidence that Swift will succeed Kenrick Lamar as the Super Bowl’s headliner in 2026.

You see, during the same podcast episode, the singer mentioned both “47 seconds” and “47,000”. After consulting Swift’s touring schedule, fans discovered that the city of Santa Clara, where the 49ers are headquartered, was the 47th stop on her Eras Tour.

The theory remains unconfirmed, but the Levi’s brand itself did little to squash the speculation when it shared a TikTok replacing its logo on a jean pocket with a sparkly orange rectangle to celebrate The Life of a Showgirl.

While we have to wait and see whether it’ll be Swift on the Super Bowl stage next year, it’s far from the only theory to have made the rounds on social media following her album announcement.

Earlier this week, fans were convinced The Life of a Showgirl title was an attempt to outperform the similarly named album The Life of Pablo by Kanye West on streaming services, given their years-long and well-documented feud.

Elsewhere, fans have poured over Swift’s mysterious orange door, and retraced her years-old material in search of dozens of Easter eggs.

Between Easter eggs and sourdough bread, Swifties sound hungry — not just for new music, but for breakfast, too.
