‘He just keeps raising the bar to new standards, and that was absolutely nail-biting stuff when Tabby didn’t quite give the run she wanted to give him a chance.
‘Matt Weston absolutely destroyed the field, and a lot of that was done in the first 50 metres.
‘He is the first Brit to win two gold medals. What an amazing achievement.’
Their victory ensured Team GB won three gold medals at a single Winter Olympics for the first time after Charlotte Bankes and Huw Nightingale triumphed in the snowboard cross mixed team earlier on Sunday.
Weston also won gold in the men’s skeleton event on Friday.
It was also the first time that Team GB have won two gold medals on the same day at a Games.

‘It’s all a bit of a whirlwind, I took confidence from the individual event and in my head I had to be quite boring and just get the job done.’
