Arab Defense Website – October 16, 2025: US President Donald Trump said that the Egyptian army is among the strongest armies in the world, praising the antiquity of the Egyptian state, whose civilization extends back more than six thousand years, while China’s civilization dates back only five thousand years.
Trump added, during his speech at the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, that he was very impressed by the personality of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, explaining that he held a long meeting with him that lasted about an hour and a half during his election campaign, while his rival Hillary Clinton’s meeting with him took only one minute.
The US President stressed that this day represents a long-awaited historical moment in the region, saying: “Just a month ago, no one would have imagined that we would reach this historic agreement, but today we have achieved what everyone considered impossible.”.
Trump indicated that the war in Gaza has ended, and that humanitarian aid has begun to flow, while civilians are returning to their homes, marking the beginning of a new phase of reconstruction, stressing that today represents the beginning of “a new and beautiful day for peace.”
According to the 2025 Global Firepower Ranking, the Egyptian army ranks 19th globally out of 145 countries, making it one of the strongest armies in the world. This classification shows that the Egyptian army has advanced military capabilities in the world, despite the economic and logistical challenges.
The Egyptian army is distinguished by the presence of more than 438,000 active soldiers, in addition to about 479,000 reserve soldiers, which places it 11th in the world in terms of the number of personnel. The period of compulsory military service ranges from 18 to 36 months, starting at the age of 18.
In terms of military equipment, the Egyptian army has more than 4,600 tanks, 1,100 warplanes, and 245 naval vessels, which enhances its defensive and offensive capabilities. It also has an advanced air force that includes versatile combat aircraft and drones.
In the field of air defense, the Egyptian army has strengthened its capabilities by introducing advanced systems such as the Chinese HQ-9B air defense system, which provides coverage with a range of up to 300 kilometers, and is characterized by the ability to track and respond to several targets simultaneously.
Industrially, the Egyptian defense sector is witnessing remarkable development, as it has entered into partnerships with countries such as Turkey and France to manufacture drones and advanced electronic systems, in addition to its participation in the program to develop the stealth fighter aircraft “TAI TF Kaan” with Türkiye.
Regionally, the Egyptian army is considered the premier military force in the Arab world, superior to the armies of countries such as Iran, Israel, and Saudi Arabia. Joint military exercises, such as the “Bright Star 2025” exercise, have demonstrated close cooperation between Egypt, the United States, and other countries, which strengthens its military standing on the international scene.
