The debutante power list: You know their famous parents, but our insiders reveal the REAL hierarchy of Australia’s rich kids who bring new meaning to the word ‘elite’…

Australia’s elite dynasties have been a fixture of the social pages for decades.

From well-established names to nouveau riche upstarts, the richest members of high society have long been a source of fascination, gossip and envy.

Generally these blue-blood families prefer to keep their faces and names out of the spotlight, unless they’re climbing a few spots in the AFR Rich List. But their privileged children are a different story.

The heirs of Australia’s wealthiest business owners and financiers tend to be less discreet than their parents, and they’re already making waves as society debutantes

As we wait to see how these up-and-coming scions will make their mark, we have asked around our sources to compile a list of the hot, young socialites to watch.

Bella Lew

Myer heiress Bella Lew is the daughter of socialite queen bee Sarah Lucas (formerly Lew, née Nowoweiski) and retail magnate Solomon Lew‘s son Steven.

The mother-daughter duo are considered top of the food chain in Melbourne’s ‘It’ crowd, with Sarah said to be Saint Laurent’s biggest spender in Australasia.

Sarah and Steven, who share two children together, divorced in 2011 after eight years of marriage.

The fashionista kept her ex-husband’s famous last name until she remarried restaurateur Chris Lucas in Venice in 2023.

Chris is the mastermind behind some of Melbourne’s most upmarket restaurants, including Yakimono, Grill Americano, and Chin Chin.

The Lucases were named one of Victoria’s power couples in 2022 and her glamorous daughter Bella is expected to follow in her high-heeled footsteps.

In November last year, she made a fashion statement in a very expensive designer gown as she attended her school formal.

The slinky black number featured a halter-neck strap and plunging neckline, and she accessorised with a Christian Dior bag and diamond tennis necklace.

Stephanie and Angus Onisforou

Twins Stephanie and Angus Onisforou, 24, are the children of millionaire Sydney property investor and retail tycoon Theo Onisforou and his ex-wife Heidi.

Theo was the chief money man for Kerry Packer before transitioning into real estate development where he would make serious money acquiring and revitalising unique and neglected buildings.

Among his achievements as a developer, he is credited with transforming Paddington’s famous shopping district The Intersection. The tycoon has since diversified from property and retail into large-scale cattle farming.

Meanwhile, Heidi is a socialite and noted property whiz in her own right, known for setting a national record after selling a Potts Point terrace for $13million in 2016.

The Onisforous, who purchased a waterfront property in Elizabeth Bay for $23.5 million in 2007, split in 2011.

Stephanie was last known to be running the Instagram account of The Intersection Paddington, highlighting the best boutique fashion on offer in the shopping precinct, and even modelled the clothing herself.

Her brother Angus studied business and law at the University of Technology Sydney.

The usually private twins stepped into the limelight in April when Angus, who is set to inherit his father’s millions, was revealed to be dating ‘It’ girl Megan Blake Irwin.

Megan, who has humble beginnings in Adelaide, spent years working as a model in America where her tumultuous love life saw her become TMZ fodder.

But after dating a string of high-profile but perhaps unsuitable men, she is now back in Sydney and loved up with bona fide society scion Angus.

Stephanie has also been described as a socialite to watch, though we know less about her private life than Angus, whose exes include the OnlyFans star Indi Thew.

The Onisforous have another daughter named Emerald who keeps a lower profile.

He and wife Carole raised their four children in New York City before making the move to Australia.

Once in Sydney, Emma was enrolled at the prestigious Moriah College, a $45,000-per-year Jewish primary and secondary school located in ritzy Queens Park.

But despite Emma’s privileged upbringing, the bold young designer has blazed her own trail in the fashion world.

Considered among the top tier of Sydney’s young socialites, Sarah has largely kept herself out of the limelight.

However, her mother made headlines back in 2017 when she claimed Justin Bieber was to make a guest appearance at her Point Piper mansion.

The mother-of-two is said to have thrown a party for the pop star, much to Sarah’s excitement, while he was touring the country at the time.

She reportedly went to great effort to entice Justin, even having a half-pipe skateboard ramp installed in the mansion’s ballroom.

Models, DJs, agents, producers and Sydney notables attended in the hope of seeing the star; however, Justin failed to show up in person, instead appearing via Skype.

Despite this gaffe, Sarah has a remarkably bright future ahead of her as a property owner after mum Di bought a block of units in Tamarama for $29.2million in 2020.

More recently, Mia landed a gig in the wardrobe department of Home and Away, the soap opera that made her mother famous.

Her mother Bec became a household name on the very same show 26 years earlier, playing fan favourite Hayley Smith Lawson from 1998 to 2005.

Bec left the soap after falling pregnant with Mia, marrying tennis star Lleyton soon after.

Justice Single

Justice Single is the 19-year-old son of fashion designer Pip Edwards and her ex-partner Dan Single, the co-founder of Ksubi.

The high school graduate is a familiar face in high society thanks to his frequent appearances on his famous mother’s Instagram account.

Pip previously described her son as an ‘honest, sensitive, intuitive, and knowing young man’.

‘I’ve raised him to be himself and I tell him I love him exactly the way he is every single day,’ she once said.

The couple, who split in 2017 after a 19 years of marriage, sold that home for more than $19million in 2018.

Their sons were private schoolboys, with Harvey a promising rugby union player and captain of his team at Cranbrook School. He went on to enjoy a gap year in 2019 after his graduation.

Tom and Harvey made headlines in 2020 when they went on a lavish holiday in the millionaire’s playground of Aspen, Colorado.

Leo Broadhurst

Despite her high profile as a socialite and art collector, Dina Broadhurst managed to keep the identity of her teenage son Leo – and his father – a secret until he turned 18.

In December 2023, Leo made his debut on his mother’s Instagram account just in time for his high school graduation.

At the same time, she also revealed Leo’s dad was musician Nick Broadhurst.
