Tips and race-by-race guide for Dubbo on Monday
Neil Evans
Track soft 5 and rail out 3m from 1000m to 400m & true the remainder.
Race 1
4. Farraige is hard fit and can make it three wins on the bounce, despite stepping back up in grade. Came off a strong closing effort at Goulburn to finally break a long drought with a big win in heavy going at Taree. Then settled last in a weaker race before flooding home over the top. Has taken a long time to find his best, but drops in weight and will relish the big track. 1. King Cornelius is a big threat also deep into the campaign, and with a 1.5kg claimer booked to offset the big weight. 3. Charlotting is honest in any conditions. 5. Think I’m Irish is a stablemate of the top selection and steps up sharply in distance. 7. Bill Peyto is an eight-year-old that can run into minor money.
How to play it: Farraige to win.
Race 2
2. Adamana emerges as the one to beat in a weak race on her home track and deep into the current campaign. Nothing went to plan in consecutive runs at Warren when well in the market, but hit back when ridden quieter here, charging home late in heavy going to miss by a head in a race with more depth. Well treated at the weights and back up in distance is a further plus. 6. Lady Lilibet can bounce back fourth-up on a drier surface. 8. Pinero has a 33 per cent strike rate in the placings from 18 starts. 10. Sonnig, back on the turf with a string of gear changes, heads the rest.
How to play it: Adamana to win.
Race 3
2. Panelli is a progressive three-year-old that can finally break through second-up at his 10th attempt. Was in and around the money in some handy maidens up to the mile when based in Victoria last prep before being run down late here on a heavy track when fresh and having his first outing for the new Bathurst stable. Fitter now and suited over a furlong further. 1. Giddy Up Griff can strike an early peak at his second start if he goes here instead of Quirindi. 3. Regalade is trained on the course and improves at his third start, with blinkers coming off. 7. Bloomin’ Hell, second-up off a long break, and locally trained 9. Nothing Finer, also with important gear changes, can both figure in the minor money.
How to play it: Panelli to win.
Race 4
9. Manoora is a lightly raced home-track mare that can resume with a bang off a long break. She began her career in Victoria with two placings, including a game effort at Caulfield, before a series of setbacks sidelined her for more than 16 months. Found her way to the NSW Central West and stretched out nicely here to win a heavy track trial a fortnight ago. Has ability and well in at the weights after the jockey’s claim. 5. Bees Knees is a promising filly reloading for her second start after making up late ground on debut at Scone, but has also been accepted for Quirindi. 8. Lovely Leni is a market watch on debut behind a handy trial here. So, too, 12. Tassorts Pride, which cruised home to win a Scone trial 12 days ago. Keep safe 1. Harry at big odds with a string of gear changes and over a furlong further, while lightly raced two-year-old 13. Miners Mate resumes off two trials with blinkers removed.
How to play it: Manoora to win.
Race 5
4. Imastatement is a consistent local mare resuming off a 23-week spell. Won two straight up to this level over the New Year before enduring a tough run from a wide draw at Cowra. Bounced back with a strong closing effort on the bigger circuit here before being turned out. Comes to hand quickly, drawn to get cover and likes the sting out of the track. 1. Street Parade is over the odds from the inside draw and on a firmer surface. 2. Sorrento Palace is ready to peak after leading for a long way third-up. 9. Fortians, coming off a third-up heavy-track maiden win, and 12. Sigsaly, which hit the line impressively at massive odds second-up, can both add value into exotic plays.
How to play it: Imastatement to win.
Race 6
4. De Joker is a lightly raced three-year-old hunting a second straight win third-up this prep. Pulled up with problems after dropping out from the front here when resuming, but hit back in a huge way bolting clear to win by nearly seven lengths on a heavy surface at Bathurst. The drop in trip offsets the four-week gap between runs and he’s primed to take the next step. 5. Torendosetta is an improving mare that finished well to claim a fourth-up win here. 10. River Rogue is trained on the course and also comes off a strong finishing win against similar opposition. 1. Glowing Rapids will appreciate a drop in grade second-up, but drawn wide under a big weight; while 3. Bounding Bon also comes back from that same race as the former.
How to play it: De Joker to win.
Race 7
10. Singing Star is an improving provincial-based mare well placed deep into the campaign. Held her ground to be beaten just over three lengths against metropolitan opposition before running home late in lesser grade behind a smart and unbeaten winner at Scone. That form reads well under a significant weight drop. 6. Gail Jeanette is a filly with plenty of quality at this level. Was given a let-up after dominating a BM 82 here before being outclassed in a much deeper metro field. 1. Deion is a threat second-up for a leading home stable, despite drawing wide. 3. Prince Of Sepang landed tough and consecutive wins albeit seven weeks apart, and looks well treated at the weights after the jockey’s claim. 13. Capital Mac will relish being back at this level after tackling steeper Class 3 Highway company first up after a 15-month break.
How to play it: Singing Star to win.
Race 8
5. Cheap Shot is tough and under-rated runner well over the odds, despite drawing wide. Charged home to win fresh in heavy going before making up late ground here behind a dominant winner. Hits peak fitness now over a furlong further and with any sort of cover can charge over the top. 10. Ciao Bella Mia reloads off a narrow BM 58 win and will take some holding out very fit from an economical draw. 3. Strassman is a big improver from a softer draw after failing first-up in a tougher grade. 7. Rolled Gold is looking for more ground third-up, while 12. Stolen Show steps up behind consecutive wins in weaker races. Gap to the rest.
How to play it: Cheap Shot to win.
Race 9
5. Jamacri is a very fit and progressive local mare chasing a third straight win deep into the prep. Came off a fast-finishing and luckless placing here to settle closer and go home best at Warren. Then charged home to win the BM58 feature a fortnight ago in heavy going. Handles all conditions and again drawn to settle back and get to the middle over the final 350m. 2. Quick Sharp is tracking to peak fourth-up and drawn to get a soft run. 4. Extreme Merger can mix his form, but a drying track is a plus. Locally trained 7. Fierce Luva swept home to beat a weak maiden field, but will have to slot in from a wide gate.
How to play it: Jamacri to win.
