Tom Cruise reveals what ‘genius’ Taylor Swift said to him while watching Travis Kelce at Chiefs game

Tom Cruise revealed the topic of conversation between him and Taylor Swift at Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs’ game on Monday.

The movie icon, 64, was sitting right beside the pop superstar, 36, in her VIP suite at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City for the Chiefs’ first game of the NFL season.

He revealed what exactly they talked about while cheering on Swift’s husband Kelce, 36, as he and his team played a 31-10 home game against the Denver Broncos.

While making an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, the actor was asked about the game and shed insight on his friendship with Swift. 

Fallon posed the question to Cruise: ‘When the biggest movie star in the world is sitting next to the biggest artist in the world, what do you talk about?’

In response, the Top Gun star said Swift, whom he called a ‘genius’ and ‘brilliant,’ ‘schooled’ him on the sport and they also discussed their respective industries. 

‘She was schooling me on football,’ he said on the late night talk show. 

‘For real?’ Fallon asked him as Cruise confirmed and echoed back, ‘For real.’ 

Cruise continued to heap praise on Swift and also gushed about her friends and in-laws, ‘everybody’ else in the suite.

‘She was bringing the football,’ he said while reflecting on the football game from the night before. 

‘First of all, she’s a genius. I’ve been following her since she was a kid,’ he added.

‘Everybody there, all their friends, they’re a beautiful couple and magical in their own right,’ he said about Swift and Kelce. ‘Everybody there in that booth.’ 

‘I hadn’t been to a football game since pre-COVID, where I was working and everything. So to get to hang out there and have that moment, it was a lot of fun,’ Cruise said. ‘She knows her stuff.’

On the late night talk show, Cruise and Fallon also mentioned how Swift did not know much about football prior to meeting Kelce. 

Cruise recalled the instance of Swift telling him the story. 

‘She said, “You know, he’s so patient.” I said, “I’m sure he was.” I think everybody would be very patient [with her].’ 

‘[Now] she knows [about football] … she’s just bringing it,’ Cruise added before telling Fallon that their conversation at the game also included a discussion about music and movies. 

‘She’s funny. She’s got such a great sense of humor. A brilliant writer also, by the way. Brilliant musician and director. Very skilled.’ 

Cruise was also one of the many A-list stars in attendance at Swift and Kelce’s wedding at Madison Square Garden in New York City on July 3.
