Trump hijacks Women’s History Month event at White House with Iran boasts and tariff claims

Donald Trump hijacked a Women’s History Month event at the White House to talk about – himself.

After declaring “women are the whole deal” and giving shout-outs to his wife Melania Trump and prominent female members of his cabinet, the president paid his own tribute to women in general.

“They are so powerful and so important and so beautiful,” he said. “I’m not allowed to use the word beautiful, but I’m using it anyway. Usually, it’s the end of your political career. If you say a woman’s a beautiful woman, they say that’s the termination of his career.

“But somehow, it hasn’t hurt too much. You are incredible women, and you’re beautiful women.”

Trump then moved quickly on to boast about operations in Iran, claims about his tariff policies and voter ID, interspersed with remarks from female guests.

“The situation with Iran is moving along very rapidly. It’s doing very well. Our military is unsurpassed,” he said. “There’s never been anything like it… they really are a nation of terror and hate, and they’re paying a big price right now.”

Then, as he introduced a farmer to the stage, Trump told the audience, “They’re benefiting from our one big beautiful bill. I say ‘Great Big Beautiful Bill because I like it better… because that’s what it is.

“And the $12 billion in farm relief we issued using tariff revenue, we get $12 billion, we took in tremendous amounts of money. We’re taking in money because of the tariffs. And really, jobs are coming in through the roof.”

Before introducing his final guest speaker, six-time Olympic medallist Kaillie Humphries, Trump noted his successes in securing upcoming sporting events.

“We have the Olympics and we have the World Cup coming up… I did the Olympics, I got the Olympics, then I got the World Cup, then I got 250 [year celebration], but I’ve never been given credit for that,” he said.

Trump also put Humphries on the stage, after describing her as a “beautiful woman with blonde hair.” Humphries then presented the president with her Order of Ikkos medal, which is given to Olympians to bestow upon anyone who has helped them with their sporting journey.

“So we only get one, but I want to recognize the support and the impact you had on women’s sports throughout the Olympic movement, specifically standing up to keep biological women in women’s sports,” Humphries said.

“I believe this actually makes you the first president in history to ever be awarded an order of Ikkos as well. So thank you.”
