Trump reportedly planning new attack on Iran after midterm elections that would see energy, nuclear and military facilities targeted

Donald Trump is reportedly planning a major attack on Iran, most likely after the midterm elections.

Two anonymous US officials told CNN the military operation would target energy, nuclear, and military facilities on a larger scale than previously seen.

The Department of War has allegedly been quietly deploying more soldiers in the Middle East who are prepared to launch an attack ‘within 96 hours of receiving’ an order from the president, according to the outlet.

‘It will be a big effort,’ one of the officials told CNN, while adding that the strikes could come at any time, but most likely after the midterm elections in November.

The Daily Mail has contacted the White House for comment.

It comes after Trump told reporters on Saturday that ‘there’s a possibility’ he would strike Iran again.

‘There’s also a possibility we’ll have a nice big beautiful agreement,’ he added.

Trump also doubled down on his support of Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last week. He urged Israelis to vote for the incumbent on Tuesday so that they could ‘finish the job’ in Iran.

‘When you go to the Polls please remember that Bibi has been an outstanding warrior prime minister!’ Trump wrote on Truth Social.

‘Israel was called the little satan, with the United States being called the big satan, by some very evil people,’ he added.

‘There can no longer be the chant heard around the world of ‘Death to America, death to Israel,’ and there won’t be.’

Trump previously officially backed Netanyahu in a lengthy statement praising him as ‘strong, brave and brilliant in the face of tremendous opposition’.

‘Bibi Netanyahu will never let you down,’ he added.

Israelis will vote Tuesday in the first national elections since Hamas’ October 7, 2023 attack in what is widely seen as a referendum on Netanyahu’s leadership.

It comes as the situation in the Middle East is becoming increasingly precarious for US personnel.

Last week, intelligence officials warned that Iran had ‘substantially increased efforts to target US personnel’ in an unclassified memo.

The October 23 memo was sent to Secretary of State Marco Rubio by Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton, who said the information had been received ‘through various channels,’ though he did not elaborate.

‘The lethal plotting efforts by the Iranians against US citizens have reached advanced stages in both the Middle East and certain other countries,’ Clayton wrote in the one-page memo, which was first reported by Axios.

A US official confirmed the memo to the Daily Mail on Saturday afternoon.

In response to a possible escalation from Iran, the US has adjusted staffing at multiple American embassies in the Middle East, including Jordan, Lebanon, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

The US ordered non-emergency government employees and their family members to leave Saudi Arabia on Wednesday.
