So, having seen five match points go begging, Kostyuk will now try to serve this one out. How are the nerves?

How on earth has Kostyuk not won this already? Boulter flings every ball back at her, the Ukrainian has plenty of time, but slams a high ball tamely into the net.

Much better, she closes down the net and hammers away into the open court. A fifth try.

The previous two points really summed up this match for Boulter so far: a fine display to keep herself in it, with all the hard work unravelling with a double fault. The serve just hasn’t been good enough.

She hits into the net and Kostyuk has a fourth chance to close this out.

And the second is saved with some fine, aggressive play by Boulter, a swinging volley one ball too many for Kostyuk despite some dogged defence. Deuce.

She reacts to another error by half-heartedly throwing her racquet on the ground a couple of times.

Much better as she comes to the net and wallops away the ball with real venom, roaring “Come on!”
