US National Security Council spokeswoman Adrian Watson said, in a statement published by the White House, that the United States welcomes the Israeli government’s steps to increase the flow of aid to Gaza, at the request of US President Joe Biden after his phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
She added that these important steps lead to a significant increase in humanitarian aid reaching civilians in dire and essential conditions throughout Gaza in the coming days and weeks.
Watson stressed the need to implement these steps now, including a commitment to open the port of Ashdod to deliver direct aid to Gaza, open the Erez crossing for a new route for aid to reach northern Gaza, and increase shipments from Jordan directly to Gaza. Completely, fully and quickly.
