White House issues list of Democrats with alleged links to Epstein as Trump backs House vote to release files — live

The White House issued a statement naming Democrats with alleged ties to Jeffrey Epstein.

The White House named several Democrats, including former President Bill Clinton and Stacey Plaskett, a non-voting delegate who represents the U.S. Virgin Islands, in its Monday afternoon statement. This comes after President Donald Trump shifted course Sunday and called on House Republicans to vote for the release of the Epstein files, saying it is time to “move on” from the issue once and for all.

Clinton’s spokesperson, Angel Urena, said last week the newly released Epstein emails “prove Bill Clinton did nothing and knew nothing.” A spokesperson for Plaskett, who was revealed to have texted Epstein during a House committee meeting in 2019, told CNN the delegate “received texts from staff, constituents and the public at large offering advice, support and in some cases partisan vitriol, including from Epstein.”

Before Trump’s endorsement, Republicans appeared split on whether to vote for a bill that would compel the Justice Department to release the files. But now, some lawmakers are anticipating a unanimous House vote on the issue, The New York Times reports.

The vote could happen as soon as Tuesday.
