With a seemingly endless list of projects he’s appearing in or is involved with, Seth Rogen jokes he could be the new Nicole Kidman. “Put me on ‘Lioness’ now!” he says, laughing.
But don’t assume he’s feeling overworked. “I slept eight hours last night,” Rogen boasts. “I do like to work and I like to shoot. I especially love being on set. I do tend to make a lot of things and, and always have. I’ve always kind of been proud of having a lot of output.”
In October, Kidman explained her work ethic to me as well. “I can create more work for people. I can create jobs for people,” she said. “And also, I love it. I have the passion. I’ve just got to take care of my body. I wish I had superpowers because I would love to be everywhere.”
I caught up with Rogen on Wednesday night at The Hammer Museum in Los Angeles at Season 2 premiere of his Apple TV+ comedy series “Platonic.”

In addition to “Platonic” –where he and Rose Byrne return as best friends Will and Sylvia — Rogen has more than a dozen upcoming films and TV programs he’s producing and has signed on to appear in close to 10.
The highly addictive “The Studio,” also from Apple TV+, is going into Emmys night in September with 23 nominations, including lead actor in a comedy series for Rogen.
The show also earned Martin Scorsese his first acting nod for his guest spot.
“It’s very weird,” Rogen said. “The fact that he seemed very happy about it was very touching to me. I think deep down I was very afraid that he just regretted doing the show and then to see how happy he was about the nomination, and I was texting with his daughter [Francesca Scorsese] who was saying he was thrilled and he was very happy about it, so I feel great about it.”
Will the famed director pop up in Season 2? “We will try to rope him in,” Rogen said.

Byrne talked about reuniting with Rogen for the second season of “Platonic,” saying they’re like family to each other now. Just ask Byrne’s husband, Bobby Cannavale. “He’s like, ‘Get me the weed,’” Byrne said, referring to Rogen’s cannabis company Houseplant. “[Seth] is a man of many traits. He’s a renaissance man.”
“Platonic” creators Nicholas Stoller and Francesca Delbanco joked about outdoing the guest star list of “The Studio” if their show is picked up for a third season. “We gotta up our game,” Stoller said.
Delbanco quickly added, “I think we get Spielberg for Season 3.”
