Women issue bizarre warning as hundreds report freak accidents while wearing $39 ‘hazard’ pants from Zara: ‘I’m a victim of the trousers’

A stylish pair of Zara trousers is being blamed for a string of falls, with women around the world claiming the popular pants have sent them crashing to the ground.

They’re silky, chic and have become a comfy wardrobe staple for countless women.

However, the popular garment is now being blamed for a growing list of painful falls, with shoppers around the world claiming the pants are nothing short of a fashion hazard.

The Zara satin trousers with an elasticated waist, currently on sale for $39.95, have sparked a wave of viral videos and warnings online after women revealed they’ve tripped, fallen and even ended up in hospital while wearing them.

Made from 100 per cent polyester with an ultra-wide, flowing leg, the trousers have become the unexpected star of a growing social media pile-on, with many detailing how the silky fabric easily wraps around their shoes as they walk.

One British woman, who posts as @stephaniesworld on Instagram, has become the latest self-described victim after documenting a trip to hospital following an accident in what she dubbed the ‘trip-hazard trousers’.

While she didn’t reveal the extent of her injuries, her video quickly struck a nerve, racking up thousands of likes and prompting dozens of women to admit they’d suffered eerily similar accidents.

‘I honestly didn’t realise how many victims there were of the Zara trip hazard trousers,’ she captioned the clip.

The comments section soon turned into a support group for fellow shoppers, with many relieved to discover they weren’t simply clumsy.

‘Are they the wide-leg slippy ones like silk but not silk?’ one woman asked.

‘Omg, I fell recently. They just slip round,’ another wrote.

‘I had just put my daughter down or I would have crashed with her too! ‘Crazy, it’s the same pair!’ she added.

‘That was literally me; if it wasn’t for my daughter holding my hand, I would knock my teeth out,’ another wrote.

‘Omg, I bought these and nearly died twice. Legit life flashed before my eyes,’ a third wrote.

‘I sent them back but f**k me, they are a liability.’

Others described near-misses that could easily have ended far worse.

Others joked that the trousers should come with some sort of disclaimer or warning label, while others agreed their scars are now most likely there for life

Several claimed their accidents resulted in genuine injuries

‘I had them on today and nearly face-planted the floor,’ one woman admitted.

‘I’ve been a victim of them too; I don’t even want to donate them, as I would hate for the next person to fall,’ another added.

Several claimed their accidents resulted in genuine injuries.

‘I broke my big toe wearing my Zara trousers!’ one fellow casualty wrote.

‘Me too! Smashed my knees! I feel like I’m dicing with death every time I wear them now. But I love them,’ a survivor added.

One shopper confessed she’d blamed herself until discovering others were experiencing exactly the same thing.

While the trousers remain one of Zara's popular wardrobe staples, the growing number of almost identical stories has left many women wondering whether the combination of the slippery satin-like fabric, extra-long wide-leg design and flowing fit is really worth it

Should fashion brands take responsibility for dangerous designs that cause injuries to customers?

‘I thought it was because I’m clumsy! Smashed both knees onto the road before my hands got there. Scabs for weeks,’ one woman described.

‘I threw the wide-legged silky palazzo pants away.’

Others joked that the trousers should come with some sort of disclaimer or warning label, while others agreed their scars are now most likely there for life.

And for some, the falls only seemed to start after months or even years of wearing the trousers without issue, while several others agreed that just one gust of wind would trigger a fall.

‘If these are those bloody wide-leg satin trousers I fell in days before my holiday last year and ended up with cut hands and knees and covered in bruises,’ one woman detailed.

‘The wind blew and somehow my shoe got caught in the other leg and I fell onto concrete on all fours.’

While the trousers remain one of Zara’s popular wardrobe staples, the growing number of almost identical stories has left many women wondering whether the combination of the luxe-looking satin-like fabric, extra-long wide-leg design and flowing fit is really worth it.

Many commenters said they still loved how the trousers looked but had resorted to wearing platform shoes, hemming the legs or avoiding them altogether after repeated close calls.

The Daily Mail approached Zara for comment about the online claims but had not received a response by the time of publication.
