World No 1 Scottie Scheffler reveals surprise birth of second child as he arrives at the Masters with 9-day-old Remy

Scottie Scheffler has arrived at the Masters with a surprise new addition to his ever-growing entourage: his second son Remy.
Scheffler and his wife Meredith welcomed their second child just nine days ago, but the whole family arrived at Augusta National on Sunday ahead of a huge week of golf.
Associated Press reporter Doug Ferguson revealed the news on social media, tweeting: ‘The little fella is 9 days old and already at the Masters.’
Scheffler is notoriously private and does not often speak about his personal life, and it came as a shock to most that the world No 1 turned up in Georgia with an extra member of his family.
He had previously withdrawn from the Texas Children’s Hospital Houston Open on March 24 for unspecified ‘family reasons’, but had not spoken publicly about the pregnancy.
The Schefflers welcomed their first child, Bennett, in May 2024, and he was even spotted swinging a set of plastic golf clubs at a recent golf tournament in Phoenix.

The golf star has previously spoken about his desire for Bennett to become a golfer when he is older, but joked with reporters last year that his son ‘doesn’t know what a golf ball is’ and enjoys ‘eating his golf club’.
‘I hope Bennett’s able to get into golf one day,’ he said. ‘You know, the game of golf taught me a tremendous amount… you learn a lot of good life lessons by playing golf. So I hope he can play it one day and I hope he enjoys it as much as I do.’
Bennett was born shortly before the PGA Championship at Valhalla, with Scheffler traveling home to be with Meredith before returning to play in the major.
At that tournament, he opened up on his emotions playing as a new dad, admitting: ‘I had pretty high expectations of what I would feel like… and those are far exceeded.’

He added that it was a ‘pretty amazing feeling’, but that he had struggled leaving home to concentrate on golf.
It remains to be seen how Scheffler will fare at this year’s Masters, his first tournament as a father of two.
In last year’s tournament, he ended the week by putting a green jacket on Rory McIlroy having finished fourth, but he always tends to have a good week at Augusta.
In fact, since his first of two wins in 2022, he has never strayed from the top 10 of the finishing leaderboard, and is among the favorites to pull on another green jacket next week.
