An agreement between the leaders of the press and media and the Minister of Endowments regarding the controls for photographing funerals and condolences

   The head of the Journalists Syndicate, Khaled Al-Balshi, and the Minister of Endowments, Muhammad Mukhtar Jumaa, agreed to establish controls that regulate media coverage inside places of worship, while emphasizing that the goal of all of this is not to restrict the media, but rather to take into account the sanctity of places of worship and the solemnity of the situation of death, in light of the professional and media conventions that It takes this into account and maintains it.

 

This came during a meeting today, Tuesday, at the headquarters of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, in the presence of the head of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation, Karam Jabr, the head of the National Press Authority, Abdel Sadiq Al-Shorbaji, and the head of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation. Journalists Khaled Al-Balshi, and Head of the Media Syndicate, Tariq Saada.

 

According to a statement issued by the Head of the Journalists Syndicate, the attendees agreed to respect the sanctity of places of worship, the solemnity of the death scene, and respect the feelings of the family of the dead, At the same time, affirming the freedom of the press and media and their national role at the same time, and taking into account all moral, humanitarian and professional values, as a consensus formula was agreed upon in which one right does not oppress another right, and one right is not favored at the expense of another right.

 

The media leaders present agreed to establish internationally recognized professional controls, in a way that preserves the right of the media to exercise its professional role and preserves the sanctity of places of worship and the solemnity of the death situation. The Ministry of Endowments agreed with this, taking into account everyone’s interest in achieving all common interests, especially taking into account humanitarian aspects and general societal sense and taste.
