Gabon youth coach accused of raping players

Patrick Asuma Ia, the former coach of Gabon’s under-17 national team, is accused of sexual assault.

One of the coach’s victims admitted that he lured the boys to his home, which he called “Garden of Eden”. Some of the victims reported that Asuma Ea had supplied other football players with young players to commit illegal acts.
During his career, he trained in several clubs, as well as in the youth teams of Gabon.

Victims did not go to law enforcement authorities because they considered the country’s justice system to be unreliable.

One of the footballers, who played under the leadership of Asumu Ii, said that the coach repeatedly committed sexual acts with him.

The coach has left his position in the Gabon youth team, but continues to work with the youth.
