Saudi Arabia and Mauritania sign a memorandum of understanding in the field of renewable energy

RIYADH, April 30 / WAM / The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania signed a memorandum of understanding, aiming to establish a framework for cooperation between the two countries in the sectors of electricity, renewable energy, and clean hydrogen, in order to achieve their common goals and interests.

The Saudi News Agency “SPA” reported that the memorandum was signed by His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Minister of Energy, and His Excellency Al-Nani Ould Achrouqa, Minister of Petroleum, Mines and Energy of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, during their meeting yesterday in Riyadh, on the sidelines of the special meeting of the forum. World Economic Forum held in Riyadh.

The memorandum includes encouraging the exchange of experiences, studying partnership opportunities in the renewable energy sector such as: solar energy, wind energy, converting waste into energy, ground energy, and developing and improving the electricity system to raise the level of reliability and security of the system.
The memorandum also includes studying opportunities for developing joint projects, transferring the necessary technologies in the electricity and renewable energy sectors, and opportunities for cooperation in the field of clean hydrogen and clean energy technologies, in order to develop and use cleaner fossil fuel technologies using the best available technologies and practices in order to address environmental impacts, including These include technologies for separating, capturing, storing and using carbon dioxide, and enhancing the efficiency of energy production and consumption.
