The Collective Security Treaty Organization sends its forces to Kazakhstan to protect the state and military installations

The Collective Security Treaty Organization coalition has officially confirmed the dispatch of an international contingent of peacekeeping forces to Kazakhstan.

According to the secretariat of the organization, the tasks of the peacekeeping forces will be the protection of the state and military facilities, as well as assistance to the forces of order. In addition, it became known that the advanced units of the CSTO had already begun these tasks.

The organization issued a statement saying:
“At present, the Russian part of the peacekeeping unit is transported to the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan by air transport aircraft of the Russian Air Force. The main subdivisions of its composition have already begun to fulfill the assigned tasks”

On January 5, against the background of the massacres in Kazakhstan, President Kassym-Zumart Tokayev appealed to the heads of state of the Collective Security Treaty Organization to provide assistance to Kazakhstan in overcoming the “terrorist threat”.
