The National Center for Women organizes a workshop in cooperation with the Transport Ministry to protect women from violence

The National Council for Women, represented by the Information and Legislative Committees, organized a workshop entitled “Mechanisms and controls to protect women from violent crimes committed against them by drivers of land transport companies using information technology,” in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport, and in the presence of Counselor Sanaa Khalil, Vice President of the Council. The rapporteur of the Legislative Committee, Ms. Amal Abdel Moneim, Director of the Women’s Complaints Office, Mr. Mohamed Mohamed Metwally, CEO of the Transport Regulatory Authority, Counselor Mona Hassan Qutb, Vice President of the Transport Projects Planning Authority, and members and members of the Council’s Information Committee.

While Amal Abdel Moneim confirmed that the workshop aims to come up with a paper Policies to be sent to the relevant authorities to set standards and conditions for smart transportation companies, especially for appointing drivers for them, stressing the importance of educating women and girls on how to protect themselves, and about reporting mechanisms if they are exposed to any forms of violence while riding in one of the smart transportation companies’ cars, stressing that the Council Ali is fully prepared to provide all forms of assistance required to the authorities entrusted with developing policies that provide protection for women.

 

 Mohamed Mohamed Metwally Ali said that all land transport companies using information technology have not obtained The necessary permits for operation were not licensed in the first place and the controls stipulated in Law No. 87 of 2018 were not followed.

 

 Huda Rashwan, a member of the Information Committee, indicated the necessity of conducting car driving tests, Sending a periodic criminal investigation to the Ministry of Interior, in addition to adhering to international standards for preserving the security of women and girls while traveling using smart transportation vehicles. It also proposed establishing an Egyptian smart transportation company.

 

< p>Dr. Mervat Abu Auf stressed the necessity of broadcasting the instructions for drivers in smart transportation companies through the media and social media to spread awareness of them on a wider scale.
