Turkmenistan’s president orders ‘gates of hell’ to be extinguished

The President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov ordered to extinguish the burning gas crater Darvaza, which is popularly called the “Gates of Hell”, located in the Dashoguz region.

According to Berdymukhamedov, a huge amount of gas is burned in this area. This circumstance negatively affects the environment and the health of the people who live close to the place. Natural gas is also consumed, with which large profits can be made to ensure the welfare of the people.

“We are creating and will continue to create all the necessary conditions for the development of the huge reserves of hydrocarbon resources of a neutral and independent homeland for the benefit of our indigenous people,” Berdymukhamedov said.
