International fashion designer Nino Cerruti dies

The famous Italian fashion designer, founder of the Cerruti 1881 brand and entrepreneur Nino Cerruti has died at the age of 92.

In 2000, Cerruti was awarded the Order of Merit for Labor.

Cerruti was born on September 25, 1930 into a family of textile makers, and inherited the family business at the age of twenty. Since 1957, he achieved worldwide fame by introducing his first Hitman clothing line in Milan. In 1962, he founded the Flying Cross brand with Osvaldo Testa.

In 1967, Cerruti opened his first Cerruti 1881 boutique on the Place de la Madeleine in Paris. In the mid-1960s, he appointed to his firm Lanificio Fratelli Cerruti then-newcomer Giorgio Armani as designer. In the 1970s, the fashion designer created the first deconstructed jacket.

The clothes he created were popular among the stars and more than once flashed at the Oscars or the Cannes Film Festival. In addition, he was the official designer of the Ferrari Formula 1 team.
