A NATO warship enters the Baltic Sea

The Dutch ship HNLMS Rotterdam was sent to the Baltic Sea.
NATO noted: “We are here to show our presence and our solidarity with the Alliance as a whole.”

According to Magnus Christianson, a researcher at the Swedish National Defense College, NATO ships were previously sent to the region, but at the moment, the appearance of HNLMS Rotterdam is associated with Russian military activity near the borders of Ukraine.

Christianson explained that “NATO is adapting to aggressive and unpredictable Russian actions and strengthening its cooperation with Sweden and Finland in the Baltic Sea.”
