Chinese authorities believe that postal parcels are a possible source of the outbreak caused by different strains of the coronavirus.

According to the Hygiene and Health Commission of Guangzhou, the capital of south China’s Guangdong Province, authorities urged residents to stop receiving parcels from countries and regions at high risk of contracting COVID-19, as well as from areas where it is locally spread. from China itself.

Citizens were advised to handle the received parcels carefully, not to tear their packaging and to use a mask.

From January 25, the country will tighten the inspection regime for parcels sent to the country’s capital and the city of Zhangjiakou, located near which, where the Winter Olympics will be held. The measures will remain in effect until the end of the Paralympic Games in Beijing on March 13. All packages without SSC marks will be returned to senders.

An outbreak of COVID-19 was recorded in the country on January 19, and more than 100 new cases of COVID-19 were detected daily.
