Arrests of Ukraine State Guard Colonels – Plot to Assassinate Zelensky

In Ukraine, two colonels from the State Guard Directorate have been detained, along with three other suspects, for plotting to assassinate President Volodymyr Zelensky, the head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasily Maliuk, Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate Kirill Budanov, and other top officials, on orders from Russian intelligence services. This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.

According to “Strana.ua,” the detained colonels from the State Guard are Andriy Huk and Derkach.

“Search operations were conducted on the suspects, during which lethal weapons and other evidence of their criminal activity were found,” the Security Service stated.

They sought military personnel close to the president’s security detail to carry out the operation, “who could potentially seize the head of state and then eliminate him.”

The Security Service claims that they planned to assassinate Budanov before Easter by launching a rocket strike on his residence, followed by drones to eliminate any remaining individuals, and then another missile to erase any traces of the attack. The colonel in the State Guard personally brought the weapons, drones, and explosives for this mission from another region in Ukraine. Conversations between the potential perpetrator of the attack and a coordinator from the Russian Federal Security Service were recorded, according to the Security Service’s statement.
