Taliban resume university studies

Afghan Minister of Higher Education Abdul Baqi Haqqani, appointed by the Taliban who seized power in the country, said Afghan students will soon return to classes.

The minister explained that in provinces with a hot climate, studies will resume on February 2, and in the same cold climate – on February 28. And before the start of the new semester, students will have to pass exams.

Haqqani refused to answer a question about whether the female students would continue studying.

Studies in universities and schools in Afghanistan were suspended in August of last year – after the Taliban came to power. In September, classes for boys from the lower classes resumed – exclusively by men. The Taliban promised to return the girls to schools and allocate separate classes for them.
