Bus tickets, hotel reservations: how Taylor Swift’s French tour benefits tourism professionals

Taylor Swift, the star of all superlatives, arrives in Europe with her tour “The Eras Tour”, and begins in France, with a first concert Thursday, May 9, at the Defense Arena in Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine). The start of a series of four concerts before continuing with two dates in Lyon, June 2 and 3 at Groupama Stadium. In Paris, more than 40,000 fans will come every evening for Taylor Swift. “Swfities”, as they call themselves, come from all over France but also from abroad and who keep the tourism sector in full swing.

Flixbus spokesperson Charles Billiard noted a spike in reservations. “Between 7,500 and 9,000 tickets were sold in connection with these concerts,” he assures, especially since “quite a few lines from the North and Normandy pass through La Défense, the fans will arrive directly on site.”

In Lyon, where the singer is expected at the beginning of June at Groupama Stadium, the hotels are full, with an occupancy rate of 80% on average, compared to 30 to 50% maximum for a similar weekend. Mathilde Carpentier, director of promotion at the Lyon tourist office, also confirms the trend for rentals “in private homes, for furnished accommodation, etc….”

Restaurateurs, activity providers: everyone has been made aware to take advantage of the phenomenon. “And therefore to be able to adapt, based on that, their offers, prepare menus, theme evenings, around Taylor Swift”, explains Mathilde Carpentier. Concerts which also attract foreign tourists, since many Americans, Canadians and Australians have been recorded.
