Newspaper editorials

Abu Dhabi, April 28 / WAM / Al-Khaleej newspaper believed that the protests of American and Western universities in support of the Palestinian people, and denouncing the ongoing genocide committed by Israel in the Gaza Strip, could succeed in ending the aggression against the Strip, as it succeeded more than half a century ago in Stop American involvement in Vietnam.

The newspaper said, in its editorials in today’s issue under the title “The Anger of Western Universities,” that the anger of American and Western universities constitutes an exciting development and a decisive turning point in the course of developments and positions regarding this war and the resulting human tragedy that expresses everything that arouses resentment and anger.

She noted that these universities bring together the elite of nations, including students, researchers, and academics, and these living groups express the consciences of societies and are the makers of their future. No matter how powerful the degree of repression, they cannot be forcibly subjugated, or their demands forcibly ignored. There is no student movement that has risen unless it is an example. In peace and civility, because it brings together an entire generation from different currents on a sublime principle and a noble goal.

She stressed that the Israeli aggression against Gaza, the continued Western denial of the rights of the Palestinian people, and the double standards applied towards their cause, were no longer able to resist this blatant awareness in Western universities and academic institutions, describing these protests as a purely humanitarian awakening, not related to hatred and incitement, but rather it was a cry. Resonating from the depths of humanity, rejecting any justification for the war of annihilation in Gaza, and preventing Israel from being granted an opportunity to escape accountability and punishment.

Al-Khaleej concluded its editorial by saying: Here is the West confronting itself once again for the sake of the principles that students learn in university seats and want to practice in deed and word, and this time for the sake of the Palestinian people who deserve all this and more, and it is one of the highest meanings of victory.
