Elon Musk Donates $5.7 Billion of Tesla Stock to Charity
Elon Musk donated $5.7 billion in Tesla stock to charity, making him the largest philanthropist in America after Bill Gates and his ex-wife Melinda French Gates.
The donation was disclosed in a document filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. The shares were donated last year between November 19 and 29. However, it is now worth about $4.4 billion after the electric car company’s share price plummeted.
The names of the entities that received shares in five separate transactions were not disclosed.
Bill and Melinda Gates donated $15 billion last year, according to the Chronicle of Philanthropy.
