US Senate approves new sanctions on Russia

The US Senate has approved a resolution supporting sanctions against Russia in the event of a Russian “invasion” of Ukraine.

It is noteworthy that the bipartisan document came after reports that work on the bill had stopped. According to media reports, members of the US Senate believe they will not have time to adopt the document before the “Russian attack”.

At the same time, the resolution is not binding, it should only warn Russia of dire consequences in the event of an escalation of the conflict in Ukraine.

On this issue, the senators expressed a unanimous opinion. They called for continued economic and humanitarian support for Ukraine, as well as security assistance. In addition, lawmakers called on US President Joe Biden to “move quickly” so that Kiev has everything it needs to defend against Russia.
