Signs that your smartphone is being monitored

Assistant Professor of the Department of Intelligent Information Security Systems at RTU MIREA Yevgeny Kashkin said that if you do not follow the security rules when using a smartphone, then criminals can gain access to personal information.

According to Kashkin, you should pay attention to the functions of the phone that downloaded applications request access to. It could be a camera, a microphone, or a photo gallery. In some cases, access to it may be mandatory. But in other cases, these requirements are ridiculous, as when programs ask them to track your home Internet account. The expert stressed that such applications can steal personal data.

Another important factor is the use of geolocation by applications. It’s not just about GPS, but also using cellular data and connections to various web sources.

Kashkin emphasized that the smartphone can monitor your movements and send location information without the owner’s knowledge.
