Mysterious mist rains down from aircraft vents and soaks passengers who are forced to ditch their wet clothes on four-hour flight

Passengers on board a New York-bound flight were left cold and wet after the air vents unleashed a thick mist of liquid.

Savannah Gowarty posted a video to TikTok showing viewers a first hand look at the damp interior of the aircraft.

‘What is this?’ she says, her hair and face visibly wet. ‘Four hour flight. So cold.’

In an effort to mitigate the uncomfortable situation, Gowarty took off her drenched collared white shirt and laid it on the armrest hoping it would air dry.

Gowarty didn’t reveal which airline she flew, but the saga she experienced on-board the four-hour flight isn’t as unusual as it may appear.

A similar incident occurred on a flight last July from Nice, France to London.

The flight, operated by low cost British airline EasyJet, had the same sort of dense mist Gowarty complained about, Newsweek reported

But an EasyJet spokesperson eased potential traveler’s anxieties, saying the fog is simply the result of condensation and that ‘this is completely safe.’

‘On board aircraft it is sometimes possible to see the air conditioning system cooling and condensing the warm air from outside, which is what passengers could see on this flight from Nice to Gatwick,’ the spokesperson said.

‘We can confirm this is completely safe for everyone on board. The safety of our passengers and crew is our highest priority.’

A viewer who saw Gowarty’s clip also commented on how the phenomenon is very common.

‘It’s just the condensation from the heat outside and the cold air in the plane!! It’s totally normal especially in the summer or when its hot out!’ the person wrote.

Another commenter backed up this claim, saying that condensation like this ‘happens often’ on flights in the southern United States where it can get quite hot outside.

Still, the vast majority of people who engaged with Gowarty’s video were sharing in her outrage, saying they’d demand compensation if they were in her shoes.

La Roche Posay, a French skin care brand, also commented on the viral video, taking a more glass half-full approach.

‘Four hour flight plus free misty refresh for dewy skin,’ the company wrote, to which Gowarty responded with: ‘That’s one way to look at it!’

DailyMail.com has approached Gowarty for comment.
