UNICEF: Taliban allow girls to study

The head of the United Nations Children’s Fund – UNICEF – Catherine Russell, said the Taliban are showing their willingness to allow girls to return to school.

“The Taliban have made it clear to us that they have this intent, and we hope that will happen,” Russell said, according to The Globe and Mile report.

According to her, Afghan girls can return to school as early as March 21, but the UN representative did not rule out that various circumstances could prevent this.

After the Taliban fighters came to power in Afghanistan, girls after the seventh grade are actually prevented from attending school. The return of girls’ education is one of the main demands of the international community for the Taliban regime.
