EU separates Russia from the SWIFT system
The EU ambassadors agreed to separate banks VTB, Rossiya, Otkritie, Novikombank, Promsvyazbank, Sovcombank and VEB.RF from the SWIFT system.
According to Bloomberg’s preliminary data, Sberbank and Gazprombank do not appear on the list.
Earlier, it was reported that the global interbank SWIFT system for transmitting information and making payments is interacting with the EU authorities to find out details about restrictions on Russian banks, and is preparing to act in accordance with the order.
The Belgium-based World Cooperative Association of Financial Institutions said it was impartial and acted on the orders of “exclusively relevant public authorities and relevant legislative bodies”.
